The Dating Game

I guess it’s about that time, eh? I’ve decided to try my hand once again with the dating game.

Since getting some of my mojo back at OUTX, I’ve been feeling like it’s time for me to dive back into the dating pool to see what I’ve been missing out on. Or, in some cases, what bullets I’ve dodged. lol.

Quick side note: I have no problem with shooting my shot if the person I’m shooting at is receptive to it. I don’t mind a chase either, but if I somehow become the only person doing the chasing, I’m out.

Okay, so here’s the good stuff…

I’ve been on a couple of different dates recently and…it’s been nice. I’m like actually dating, too. Meaning the guys have good intentions and are genuinely aiming for longevity.

It feels good to be courted like a mature adult for once.

Confidently knowing what I want in a partner has probably helped shape the types of guys I attract as well. I need stability and security in my life — at minimum. And, I’m ending things at the first sign of inconsistency or hesitation. Ya girl does not need that type of negativity.

My most recent date was at a coffee shop, which was definitely a first for me. Y’all know most guys are quick to set up dinner and a movie as the first date. lol. So, he gets some points for not being typical.

The conversation was good, the vibe was chill and I didn’t feel like I was living up to a perception of myself that didn’t truly exist. It’s always so interesting to hear how people perceive you before actually getting to know you.

But in all seriousness, I feel like my most recent heartbreak and failed relationship has taught me so much about myself and my self-worth. Because of that constant pain, there are things I absolutely will NOT sacrifice or settle for just for the sake of having someone love me half-heartedly.

I’m eager to see where this new leaf takes me.

#QTNA: If you’re dating multiple people, do you make each of the parties aware or is it assumed that they aren’t the only one because things aren’t official? Let me know in the comments!
